Mental Health Counseling

Individual counseling involves psychotherapy, talk therapy, or mental health treatment.  Clients will work one on one with a trained and highly qualified clinician in a safe, secure, and confidential environment. Our team is dedicated to guiding you through a variety of life challenges, including:

Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) is the process of restoring and building skills for individuals diagnosed with a mental health condition. Services are provided in the home or community settings and may be provided in conjunction with mental health counseling for people 12 years or older.

PSR Specialists' role is to teach and guide with skills concerning Independent Living, Vocational Coaching, and Social Skills training that will help develop coping strategies, identify support groups, practice daily living skills, and help link clients to resources that will assist their progress and level of independence.

Treatment plans are individualized and goal-oriented. The overall purpose is to teach and empower clients to become the BEST they can be in accomplishing personal goals and living an independent life. 

 

Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)

Adoption Competent Counseling

Positive Behavioral Solutions serves youths who are or have been in foster care as well as who have been adopted. Each therapist in Positive Behavioral Solutions is adoption competent and trained in:

  • Psychology of adoption
  • Life cycle experiences and developmental stages of adopted children
  • Issues of Adoption/foster care in Infants and older children
  • Trauma-informed care/attachment-focused therapy for adoptive families and foster care
  • Family-focused, systemic wraparound approach to individual therapy for foster care and adopted children, teens, and families.
  • Management of behavior problems and discipline for traumatized children

SEDNET

Positive Behavioral Solutions is in contract with Orange County Public Schools to provide Mental Health Therapy in the client's school during the school day utilizing various modalities, including MATCH-ADTC, TF-CBT, CBT, and Adoption Competency Therapy.

The SEDNET benefits each child as it involves a tri-fold Coordination of Care and communication, involving the Parent, School Counselor, and PBS Therapist.

Evidence-Based Treatment

Trauma Focused 

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Supports children, adolescents, and families to overcome the impact of traumatic life events, such as domestic violence, physical abuse, loss of loved ones, community violence, etc. 

  • Ages 3-18 years old with a memory of a traumatic event. 
  • Lasts 8-16 sessions
  • PTSD, anxiety, and/or depression symptoms due to traumatic life events. 
  • Develop coping skills. 
  • Learn to identify and manage feelings related to trauma. 
  • Learn safety skills. 

MATCH

The Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems (MATCH) is designed for children with multiple mental health diagnoses. 

  • Ages 6-17 years old.
  • Addresses 70% presenting challenges
  • Lasts 10- 23 sessions
  • Incorporates parent engagement
  • Uses detailed decision trees and regular outcome monitoring to document treatment progress. 
  • Includes 33 modules derived from other evidence-based practices
